"Akage no An", translated as "Red-Haired Anne" was produced
by Nippon animation. Fifty episodes of the anime aired from January 7,
1979 - December 30, 1979. This television series was part of the World
Masterpiece Theatre series.1
The layouts of episodes 1-15 were created by acclaimed anime director
Hayao Miyazaki ("Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind," "My Neighbor Totoro", "Princess
Mononoke," "Kiki's Delivery Service" and the recent "Spirited
Away"). The series director was Isao Takahata. The first 6
episodes of the series were edited by Takahata into a film aired by the Canadian
Broadcasting
Corporation and dubbed in French.1,2
