"The Courting of Prissy Strong" is a short story by L.M. Montgomery
that was published in The Housewife in 1909, a
year after the publication of Anne of Green Gables. L.M.
Montgomery later republished this short story in her 1912 collection, Chronicles
of Avonlea. Through some detective work in the library, I located
this the original, illustrated version of the story from The
Housewife.
I also have made a critical
comparison of the L.M. Montgomery's 1909 text and the 1912 story published
in Chronicles
of Avonlea that shows all of the differences between the two story
versions.
