megan_follows_2000: All the time! I always pretended to be someone else. I played a lot of make believe games, put on plays as a child.
megan_follows_2000: I think it was destined to be an actor, and that's not necessarily a good thing!
megan_follows_2000: But it was true for me.

i_go_pogo asks: Megan, how did you feel about re-visiting a character you had made so popular, and how did you prepare for your role?
megan_follows_2000: I had mixed feelings.
megan_follows_2000: I missed her, but I was nervous about coming back to do it again.
megan_follows_2000: Having done her role before, was a good deal of my preparation. Remembering what I had done in the past. And then some parts of it were totally new.
megan_follows_2000: It required creating her kind of fresh, with some...well...guidelines.

anne_girl_87_87 asks: You did a fantastic job playing Rosetta on Under the Piano. Was it difficult for you to play and autistic girl?
megan_follows_2000: Yes it was! It was very frightening.
megan_follows_2000: To play something like that, and play it accurately. I was lucky to have an "Autistic Advisor" on board, and every scene...I would run behavior thru her.
megan_follows_2000: If it didn't meet her approval of authenticity, then it didn't fly.

anneaveril asks: Did you have any idea you would accumulate so many devoted fans?
megan_follows_2000: No, I didn't! But I'm thrilled about it. Grateful

avonlea2000 asks: Your performance as Nora in "A Doll's House" at the Atlantic Theatre Festival was outstanding! What have been some of your favourite theatre roles?
megan_follows_2000: Definitely Nora was one of them.
megan_follows_2000: Juliet in Romeo and Juliet.
megan_follows_2000: Sonya in Uncle Vanya...
megan_follows_2000: Nina in The Seagull, was the latest I've done, and it's one of my favorites.

skweakx asks: would you ever consider touring the world in a one-woman show, or doing live theatre in the US?
megan_follows_2000: I did the Nina in the US at the old Globe theater in San Diego, and I did an Uncle Vanya in LA at the Geffen Playhouse.
megan_follows_2000: It would have to be GOOD though, before I toured the world.

megan_follows_2000: He's a wonderful gentleman!
megan_follows_2000: We only had him for 6 days. We shot all of his scenes in 6 days, but I would go to the racetrack in Hollywood with him afterward.

megan_follows_2000: Colleen Dewhurst would definitely be probably my favorite. I was lucky. There were many who were wonderful.

megan_follows_2000: Being more involved in the creation of something, the beginning stages.

megan_follows_2000: It was the best part of doing it!

megan_follows_2000: We still haven't finished the first one. She's been engrossed in Harry Potter, and we're now on the 4th Harry Potter book!
megan_follows_2000: When we finish the 1st book, then we can watch the first Anne series.

megan_follows_2000: I do.
megan_follows_2000: And it comes to me from lots of different sources. Sometimes, it takes a while to get to me. Have patience!
megan_follows_2000: I get a lot of them, and I'm on my own in dealing with them.

megan_follows_2000: I felt that Anne HAD to end up with Gilbert.
megan_follows_2000: I thought that Jack should be the great temptation that you THINK you want, but realize that you don't.

megan_follows_2000: When I was a child, my favorite were the Oz series. All 14 of them.
megan_follows_2000: Then the Lloyd Alexander books, "The Black Cauldron", and of course, the Narnia books.
megan_follows_2000: one of my favorite novels as an adult was "An American Tragedy."
megan_follows_2000: And a Fine Balance.

violet_anne asks: How do you feel about your costumes in the Anne movies?
megan_follows_2000: I loved them!
megan_follows_2000: I hated my corset though, which I burned after the second miniseries.
megan_follows_2000: It was a ritualistic burning, dowsing it in kerosene.
megan_follows_2000: I had to wear it for 14 hours a day for 6 months! IT was awful.
megan_follows_2000: I could feel my organs being crushed daily.

annefan3 asks: Megan, what are your fondest memories of working with Colleen Dewhurst?
megan_follows_2000: just listening to her talk.
megan_follows_2000: It was a wonderful sense of humor. Bawdy. Gracious.
megan_follows_2000: A treat.
megan_follows_2000: I was able to work with her again later on in a feature film once, where she played my mother. I was very fortunate to have worked with her.

echo_dell asks: I loved the fact that Anne 3 retained some of the simple humor from the previous movies. What was your favourite funny scene from any of the movies?
megan_follows_2000: the first one, where she realizes her hair is green.
megan_follows_2000: She's weeping under the covers and MIrella is laughing.
megan_follows_2000: I liked that one.
megan_follows_2000: The scenes of Gilbert in the second film, when he's being whacked with the flower basket.
megan_follows_2000: :)
megan_follows_2000: I liked my falling down the stairs in the wedding gown in the last one. A very Anne-like thing.

megan_follows_2000: Yes, I was!
megan_follows_2000: The war element was a surprise.

anne_girl_87_87 asks: First of all, I'd like to say that you are the most wonderful actress on the face of this earth and your work is simply breathtaking. You have immense talent. My question is, which Anne movie did you enjoy acting in the most?
megan_follows_2000: The first one. All the elements were there.
megan_follows_2000: It worked a magical experience in shooting it. We shot in 9 weeks. It was a huge project, the biggest Mr. Sullivan had done at that point. We had am azing crew whose contribution made the film what it was.
megan_follows_2000: The cinematographer, the first AD, and the cast... just people that made it a magical thing. Lots of hard work, and everyone was there for the purposes of telling the best story possible.
megan_follows_2000: It was very unique. A special experience.

tbrick_2000 asks: Of all the actors you've worked with over the years, who did you learn the most from?
megan_follows_2000: I learned a lot from Colleen Dewhurst.
megan_follows_2000: I learned different things from different people. Things from Martin Mull when I was younger, on a series with Steve Martin producing.
megan_follows_2000: I learned a lot from people in the theater as well, actors you might not know the names of, but who's love of their work helped them excel.
megan_follows_2000: The list is really long. There's always something to be learnt, and things you might realize you don't want to do, but at least learn about.

megan_follows_2000: I don't have ONE favorite.
megan_follows_2000: One that stuck in my mind is Forbidden Games, a French film about children during WWII

megan_follows_2000: I'm trying to think of things she has NOT been in!
megan_follows_2000: Having her own children, probably.

megan_follows_2000: It was big, and I was so grateful to have the opportunity to do it.

megan_follows_2000: I think it's gorgeous, but I don't think I could live there!
megan_follows_2000: They're very picky. You have to be FROM there, or marry someone there.

megan_follows_2000: I would love to come to Asia again. I was in China in 1998
megan_follows_2000: My mother was born in Shanghai actually, and I would love to return.
megan_follows_2000: I'd be thrilled to go to Taiwan!

alilybee asks: How many auditions did it take before they decide to use you as Anne?
megan_follows_2000: I think 3.
megan_follows_2000: I auditioned 3 times
megan_follows_2000: I was the first person to audition, and then they saw 3000 more after me! And I was the last one they finally agreed on.
megan_follows_2000: I was NOT the first choice.

bye_bye_mamy asks: what are your favorite place megan?
megan_follows_2000: there's so many places I haven't been. I can't speak as an all knowing reference.
megan_follows_2000: I love the Maritimes.
megan_follows_2000: I also love Nova Scotia, where I am now.
megan_follows_2000: But overall, my favorite place to be is with my family. My children.

mugsygroi asks: Years ago, I was so excited to see you on a television series with Connie Sellecka. The cast of the show was top notch. Did you enjoy that work?
megan_follows_2000: I loved that show. I really liked my character!
megan_follows_2000: I was sad that show didn't last long.

megan_follows_2000: Anne is a wonderful character.
megan_follows_2000: I think that without sounding...full of myself...:) that I think I achieved a quality that was needed to make Anne believable.

megan_follows_2000: It would be bad to be known as the actress who played Anne badly!

Legs_for_Miles_ asks: Anne got alot of stick for her hair colour. Did you ever have the same problems with it when you were growing up?
megan_follows_2000: no, because my hair was not as red as Anne's!

megan_follows_2000: depends on your definition as prankster.
megan_follows_2000: Probably me.
megan_follows_2000: Jonathan Crombie is very funny. A wonderful sense of humor. He really makes me laugh.

megan_follows_2000: basically, it was just the beginning of the consummation of the wedding.
megan_follows_2000: People had been waiting LONG enough, and it was done very tastefully.
megan_follows_2000: I think I was wearing the veil and nothing else. ;)
megan_follows_2000: And Gilbert swept me up in his arms and laid me down onto the bed. The beginning of a kiss, and then a fade out.
megan_follows_2000: It was a celebration, since he WAS leaving the next day.

megan_follows_2000: I liked the reunion scene, when I find him...finally...in the crowd while singing the song.
megan_follows_2000: It's very melodramatic, but I think it's a fitting reunion with Anne and Gilbert.

megan_follows_2000: I think just...work in the theater. It's a great education in acting.
megan_follows_2000: I think that really learning about great playwrights and great characters gives us in the long run the ability to sustain our love of what we do.
megan_follows_2000: And the tools for our craft.
megan_follows_2000: There's a lot of unpleasant and ugly things in the industry, so having something important to you and knowing what it is that you love about performing is very important.
megan_follows_2000: It keeps you in the profession, or if not strong enough, will tell you it's not where you should be.

maria_cs_1975 asks: Megan, all of us girls would like to know your take on this one: why do you think Anne turned turned down Gil in the Sequel? We've all been debating that one on the discussion boards!!!
megan_follows_2000: Because to BE married as a young women in that day and age means that end of your independence as a person. The thing most important to Anne was having a voice as an independent. TO be defined by the quality and substance of her mind...and not to be an appendage in someone else's life
megan_follows_2000: She didn't want to be Mrs. Gilbert. She wanted to be Miss Anne. And she didn't know who that was yet.

megan_follows_2000: I love working in both.

megan_follows_2000: I have periods where I settle down, and periods where I work. And that's just the way it is.
megan_follows_2000: For me, and that's how I grew up. My parents are both theater actors.

megan_follows_2000: I don't think I would want any other time period other than the Now.
megan_follows_2000: I think as a women that I would only want to live now and in the future.
megan_follows_2000: I mean, you don't have to go back far to realize that basic fundamental rights, things we didn't have, even in the last century.
megan_follows_2000: I just think we romanticized the past a great deal, and for most people, it was really hard unless you were extremely privileged, and most of the world is not.
