Being Green
I went to the Harvard Sustainability Celebration today. President Drew Faust talked about the initiatives that Harvard is taking to be responsible environmental stewards. Then Nobel laureate and former Vice President Al Gore gave a lecture and was honored with an award. It was a necessary reminder of the steps we need to take to solve the climate crisis.
It was a chilly afternoon, but was warmed delicious apple crisp. I'm also now the proud new owner of an aluminum water bottle and green is the new crimson tee.
Here are a couple photos of the event:

Preparations
We saw this cool house decked out for Halloween today.

and another pretty tree:

Then in the Harvard Yard, preparations were underway for Al Gore's speech in Tercentenary Theatre, which takes place tomorrow.

Alewife Brook Reservation
We went to the Alewife Brook Reservation today. Although its website says it's adjacent to the Alewife T stop, the main entrance was not at all easy to find (and Google Maps mislabeled multiple sights in the area), so we only saw a small section of it. We also met a group of Dutchmen who wanted to sell us their bicycles. We took the subway up, and we walked all the way back home through some beautiful parks and neighborhoods we hadn't seen before. Hopefully, we can make it back before all the leaves fall off the trees.

The Black Crowes
We went to see the Black Crowes tonight at the Boston Opera House. It was an amusing choice of venue for the crowd. I'd love to go back and explore the building again. It was just beautiful.

Another Sunset

My youngest brother visited tonight and we walked around the city and ate at a new Indian place.

Sunset
My desk faces west, so I can watch the sunset each night. At times it's glaring and I shut the blinds, but after the glare passes, it's a time of beauty.

Boston is to ice cream as Seattle is to coffee
I read yesterday that Boston is to ice cream as Seattle is to coffee, which only made me want to eat more ice cream. I had some ginger ice cream here at Lizzy's after we had dinner at Wagamama.

On berries and chicken
I haven't seen ash tree berries in years. They're just so pretty.

The chicken I cooked for dinner looked very photogenic.

Chinatown
We met new friends and headed to Chinatown for Dim Sum.
On the way, I saw this balloon near a farmer's market.

Then we arrived in Chinatown.

And saw some art:

And kids practicing Kung Fu:

Then we ate. Tripe. Yummm.

And then we ate some more. We bought two sesame balls at this bakery full of delectable treats.

Then, considering the upcoming depression, I bought myself this dress from Anthropolgie. Priorities.
